Report:
AGFC started the new season with a competent win against a side who they have dominated over the last few seasons and who should not be confused with the far superior tuesday night Loco Splott (from whom the Strange borrow some players). In general AGFC created plenty of goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise in the final third as their passing and finishing was patchy at times. Rich did open the scoring in the first half latching onto a good pass from the right and drilling the ball past the keeper. AGFC continued to press but could not add to their account and the first half finished 1 nil to the Home side.
AGFC scored two further goals from Fraser and Alex in the second half which put the match beyond doubt although Strange did manage a consolation before the final whistle. AGFC defended resolutely throughout the match which was reflected in the voting with Huw, Andi and Chris performing well although it was left to Steve to pick up the man of the match award for an assured rearguard performance. Both Big Chris and Dave M performed well in their respective debuts which also saw a return to action for Alex. Although a decent start to the season AGFC will probably have to pick up their game to compete with the always dangerous Pentyrch side in next weeks fixture.
