Report:

AGFC stretched their unbeaten run to 4 competitive matches and they remain unbeaten for the season after a memorable win against a strong NOB’s team on another rainy night at Treforest. It was Morgan playing wide right who opened the scoring in the first period with a strong run and quality finish from a tight angle. In the second half NOB’s started to take control of the match, passing the ball well and managed to score three goals in rapid succession to put AGFC on the back foot. NOB’s could have scored more if it hadn’t been for an inspired performance in goal by Craig H who made a number of important saves including a flying one handed effort which needed a wrist of steel to keep out the opposition. At this stage it was looking bleak for AGFC who had battled hard but, to be fair, were now being outplayed by an impressive NOB’s Team and with about 30 minutes remaining in the match were 3-1 down. AGFC needed something to get them back into the match and Morgan provided this while once again getting one over on the NOB’s defence and finishing well. NOB’s were now beginning to get rattled with the NOB’s keeper screaming “You can’t touch me” at Jamal after a robust challenge by the striker. With about 20 minutes left in the match NOB’s conceded a free kick from 20 yards out, Morgan’s free kick was only parried by the rattled keeper into the path of Enda, who was professionally following up, and finished to make the score 3-3. NOB’s weren’t finished yet though, and a hopeful ball over the top of the AGFC defence fell between the striker and Craig in goal and found it’s way into the net. AGFC continued to attack and a Miller cross was poked into the net by Rich to tie up matters once again. When most sides would have been happy with a draw AGFC continued to attack and Morgan challenged the NOB’s keeper, won the ball, and slotted to give AGFC the lead with minutes remaining. Rich provided the coup de grace with virtually the last kick of the match as he buried a sumptuous left footed volley into the corner of the net from a fizzing Jamal cross while also racking up 100 competitive goals in a career.

It was another excellent Team Performance by AGFC with several players receiving a man of the match vote and Steve receiving two votes for an effective rearguard performance, but Morgan was clearly the man of the match with a powerful and purposeful display in his competitive debut for the club.
