Report:
AGFC took on Wales and West for the first time in a year and played well against a side they had never previously beaten. Despite the three nil score line every AGFC player did well and contributed to the match. In the first half AGFC only conceded one goal despite pressure and good passing football from W&W although chances were limited for AGFC, the best probably an effort from distance which was blazed over the bar by Panny. AGFC conceded a second goal early in the second half as a dipping shot narrowly evaded Maj in goal. AGFC continued to press manfully looking for a goal and there were several half chances where players struggled to find the target. W&W did get their third goal in the last 5 minutes which was a bit harsh on AGFC. Enda & Carl played well in the middle of the park and Maj made some good saves in goal, although it was the two central defenders who scooped the man of the match award in a controlled and professional partnership which deserved greater rewards. Even though this was another defeat against their nemesis, AGFC are generally getting more competitive against this side and with a bit more luck and similar effort that was shown on Friday night AGFC could realistically look to getting a result against Wales and West in the near future.
