Report:
AGFC were asleep for the first 10 minutes of this game allowing Loco to strike first but this was the wake up call that the green collective needed and they dominated the rest of the half. Rich struck first in typical poacher fashion after finishing an excellent low cross from Jamal. Enda got the second when he was quickest to react to a spillage from the Loco keeper and accurately finished from a very tight angle. Andi completed the first half domination with his first AGFC goal after a sharp turn in the box and low strike into the corner. Half-time AGFC 3 - Loco 1. The game then became a tale of two "C"s - the first half was full of Confidence but the second half full of Calamity!! Loco changed their formation and flooded the midfield thus negating the effectiveness of AGFC's mid men. Their first goal on the comeback trail was as a result of the man we now affectionately call Penalty Pete - enough said!! AGFC did respond with a great run from Jamal who then took the ball around the keeper to finish. Both sides continued to press and shots from Panny, Enda, and Rich all being block, saved or just running wide. Loco got their third when Mark, who had won the ball well in defence, lost control of 'the pill' for Loco to nick it. AGFC continued to defend resolutely until the dying minute when Enda (the stupid numpty that he is) made the biggest mistake of his five years with AGFC. From a Loco corner the ball looped aimlessly to Enda who at the last millisecond step out of the header to leave the ball to Simon in goals. Unfortunately, Simon wasn't expecting Enda to be such a twit, the ball bounced against the bar and Loco bundled it over the line.
Pete and Simon deservedly shared the MoM award - Pete was excellent all night in defence and Simon produced some excellent saves most notably a last second change of direction to tip an effort around the post at the end of the first half. AGFC have now played Loco five times this season and the record currently stands as two wins, two losses and 1 draw. AGFC and Loco will meet again on Tuesday 24th March for the final time this season and there is a certain Irish man who will have that game pencilled into his diary in big red letters to avenge his mistake.
Duckhams: Enda the Bellenda in the dying minutes. Ant T did his now annual falling on his backside trick!!
