I originally wrote this as a quick tool for finding out my public facing IP
address from work - useful if your machine is behind NAT or some other network
gizmo that causes your local IP address to differ from the one you present to
the outside world. For those who don't know, you can find out your PC's local
IP address by typing the following at a command prompt:
ipconfig /all
You'll see lots of interesting words and numbers, including your IP address.
This may or may not match the IP address in the above table, depending on how
your network is set up.
When I put this up I thought it might be interesting to show what other
information is available to the web servers you visit. Admittedly it's not too
revealing, but it might surprise some people (particularly those surfing in
work, who's company name appears in the host name).
