ABOUT YOU

Ever wondered just how much information you bring with you when you visit a website? Well I'm no expert, but with even my limited expertise I have gathered the following information about you:

The following information comes from variables on my web server
Your broswer CCBot/1.0 (+http://www.commoncrawl.org/bot.html)
Your language en-us,en;q=0.5
Your IP address 38.103.63.61
Your host name 38.103.63.61
Referring page (if you came here via a link)

The following information comes from javascript (assuming it is enabled in your browser)
Your browser
Your platform
Pages visited in this session
Is java enabled
Your screen resolution

I originally wrote this page as a quick tool for finding out my public facing IP address from work - useful if your machine is behind NAT or some other network gizmo that causes your local IP address to differ from the one you present to the outside world. For those who don't know, you can find out your PC's local IP address by typing the following at a command prompt:

ipconfig /all

You'll see lots of interesting words and numbers, including your IP address. This may or may not match the IP address in the above table, depending on how your network is set up.

When I put the page up I thought it might be interesting to show what other information is available to the web servers you visit. Admittedly it's not too revealing, but it might surprise some people (particularly those surfing in work, who's company name appears in the host name).
